I am sorry to tell you that your machine is a single-frequency (2.4kHz) VLF detector, that sucks on wet saltwater sand and in saltwater. I know the advertising touts it as a saltwater machine, but it isn't. If you can return it and get a Minelab Vanquish or Equinox, do so. If you can't, when it starts falsing, turn your sensitivity down until it falses just a little. Your depth will be cut by at least half of its capability in the dry sand. Best of luck.:skullflag:

I have the Underwater, it does false on occasion in both fresh and salt, then will settle down. It doesn't like to bump stones with high sens. I don't know how different Florida water is from CT, but I crank up the volume, sens on 7-8, disc at 0. If just coin and jewelry hunting and don't want to dig everything, set the disc at 3.5.
Anything with iron will have a click to it, the good targets repeat nicely and loud. I love mine, but until I try a higher end machine I won't know how ineffective everyone keeps saying it is.
This is my 6th year with it.

thank you Terry. i got the machine brand new for $170.00. i will try it out and see. i had a tesoro sand shark before and i loved that machine until it died on me.
