Both of my Fisher detectors went on the blink.....a CZ7 and CZ3D...A fellow T-netter suggested a Keith W ills with Broken Detectors.com in Texas to send them too for repair. I was leery and was dreading getting the call with the amount that I owed. When the call came I was pleasantly surprised. Keith did not try to gouge me or charge me for services not needed. One of my detectors (CZ3D) needed a new coil, I believe that was $110.00. The other detector had a loose connection and was fixed properly. My total bill was right at $200.00 with well over half of that charge being the cost of the new coil and shipping. The machines were also field tested before being sent back to me..... i would highly recommend him to anyone if you have a detector that is not under warranty. He sent back a flyer with the invoice and it looks like he will work on any brand of detector.....i am so used to getting screwed when it comes to repairs and this was such a positive experience that I thought I would share it with you...Steve

I tried to find it by brokendetectors but there is no s in the URL.

Thanks for the info....

Keith Wills is the best! He is arguably the most knowledgeable person in the USA when it comes to Metal Detectors and their repair. He will always do right by you! Joe

Yep. It's better than having your beloved Fisher gutted and filled with First Texas electronics! >:(

I've heard only Great things about Keith. And for the price, you can't beat it.

:tongue3:I have been an Electronics Tech for about 30 years and my first job was repairing industrial metal detectors in the field and on the bench, I my self would never send mine in unless it was under warranty, if mine dies I will just repair it, I own 3 Oscopes to 100 MHz and all of the associated equipment that goes with repair to component level I should start my own repair business.:headbang:8-):BangHead::tongue3::tongue3::occasion14::hello2::laughing9::hello::icon_thumleft::icon_thumleft::icon_thumleft:

Believe me, you did the best thing. Nobody and I mean nobody but the factory can properly refurb a cz20, there is so much going on inside it its enough to make you faint. And the price was right, you can sell that beast for 6 franklins all day long. I would keep it and earn back the money with good deep finds.

If you were a trained Electronics Tech college level all of the classes and hands on experience, the reason it would make you faint is that you have no idea what you are looking at. The industrial metal detectors that I started out working on were and are so much more sophisticated and expensive than anything consumer on the market today, we are talking $10,000 for the bottom of the line model, that's the problem with you guys you do not understand anything about electronics so you thing no one else does either, I am a Degreed Electronics Technician with 220 college credits and an A.A.S. Degree, 35 years experience in the field, and when I started metal detectors were at the bottom of the technical line with optical inspection equipment being at the top just one of the 4 CCD cameras on this machine in the late 80s were $5000 a piece. You have no idea what sophisticated electronics are even about. $400 for a repair is gouging by First Texas!

I'm curious, because I don't know, is there a problem with purchasing a fisher MD? You guys speak about them as if they have leprosy. . .

Don't listen to my last thread.. I just got an f5 that was 4 months old from someone and when I got it home and really started playing with it it was going so crazy that I thought it was broken... When I got it out in the field it worked like a dream... Some people told me it was a sensitive machine... To many things putting out emi signals around a home... It is a great machine though so don't let it scare you
