I'm thinking about getting my friend a DEUS II, just the machine, because I have one and he uses the Minelab 800 and for old stuff I tend to walk circles around him, here's the cool part of this concept.. I have all the coils, (waiting for the DEUS II Elliptical Coil) and if he had a DEUS II machine, he could simply use his machine to to pair with any of the coils I'm not using (which would be the 11" or 8" if I have the Elliptical coil)
This is one of the GREAT features of the DEUS Machines, no hooking or unhooking the coils to swap them, simply have them added in the machine and you can swap simply by navigating to the menu and picking the coil you want...
What I want to see is: if it's the way he hunts, that keeps him from getting good targets, or is it his Minelab 800..
Field Tests seem to indicate a little of both... BTW..

Why not just trade machines for a few hunts to see if it's machine or operator? Plugging in a cabled coil is quick and easy. No finicky pairing needed, and it will go underwater without having to clip on some hokey antenna cable. Don't get me wrong. The Deus 2 has some great features and performs well. It's just not all rainbows and unicorns.

I agree with cudamark. Trade for a few hours. Or get a WS6 Master as a backup machine for yourself and let your friend use that. My wife will use the WS6 Master while I use the Deus 2 remote.

I used a Minelab 800 for a while (I used to have one) I remember not being able to determine size of an object before digging.. to me this was a problem, a soda can reads and sounds like a quarter 😂, he often times calls me over to check targets (and vice versa) but that’s not a bad idea, only problem is he is not really familiar with the DEUS II or how it works.. I could set it up and let him go, I’m also not sure about everything with that Minelab because it’s been 2 years since I have used one

It’s easier to swap coils on the DEUS II (or 1) because the coils are saved in memory and you just go to settings and click the one you want to use… You are correct though about under water hunting… I nor my partner hunt in the water but that antenna is a pain in the ass…
