What a beauty!
What's with the two sets of photos though? Is the lower set converted to gray scale, or something? It does seem clearer.
Finds were slim today on our hunt but mangaged this one. View attachment 1392767View attachment 1392768View attachment 1392769View attachment 1392770
Olive oil can remove more than just caked on grunge? That pic looks like ancient copper turned into silver (or a silvery metal)before olive oil and after olive oil.
The gray oneit actually is dark chocolate patina after it sat all night,.
The gray one![]()
Now I'm confused to.
What's to be confused about? The first image the coin has NOT been cleaned the second set it has been cleaned with olive oil like he said before. There are many variables that make what colors you see in a photograph like white balance, color saturation I could go on and on. So all you need to know is the coin is clean and its in great shape for being 200 years old.
Yes, the coin certainly is in great shape, and cleaning it sure helped with that. I was just puzzled because the coins in the second set looked as gray as the old WWII zinc pennies to me... not at all like any form of copper. But yeah, probably just less saturation in the image, different lighting... something like that. What's to be confused about?
