I have had my DFX for a while now, but really don't understand it much. Mainly because with the new family I don't get the time to get out much. I plan on starting to learn how to use it on beach sand and surf since the digging is a lot easier than the grassy parks. I was wondering if the "coins and jewelry" mode the best mode to use for at the beach? Or is there a better setting? I also don't know anything about frequency's to be using either. Does anyone know of any sites that have special settings to use for certain places to hunt?

Thanks for any help,

Charles

Nitro, what part of Fla are you in?

I'm using the Whites Beach Hunter ID so I can't help you with the settings, but I am sure someone will post soon who can as the members here are very friendly and helpful.

I am living in Brooksville, so I am pretty close to many beaches to choose from. I just moved back here from Alaska. Only did a little panning up there, The DFX isn't really a nugget finder.

The DFX is a great machine... but it does require a lot to learn it well. Your best bet on info on the dfx is to check out the DFX forum. I've gotten tons of information and programs from there. Also, there are several books that are reccommended there, that specifically deal with getting the most out of that machine.

That was exactly what I was looking for Steve,

thanks a lot,

Charles

Steve, are you a member of that DFX only site? I tried to get on there but it wouldn't let me register it kept saying error messages, like this one???

Could not delete stale confirm data

DEBUG MODE

SQL Error : 1146 Table 'dfxonly_xmb1.phpbb_confirm' doesn't exist

What's up with that?

Does anyone know who the moderator is so that I might get past that info and register?

Thanks for any help.

Charles

It works well at the beach, just go to your menu arrow down to jewelry/beach and you are good to go. Dont get your controlbox wet!

Look to the bottom of the forum and there is a place to send an email to him for an account.
He told me his forum was getting spammed to bad and decided to run it this way.

Well, what I wanted to ask at the DFX site is when I was trying to switch to different programs, it kept giving me errors like this: "unable to balance, installing presets"

What is that about?

I did do well for finding coins, but I am not sure if I was finding all that was down there since I only could search in the jewelry/beach mode.

Thanks,

Charles

Thanks GreenMeanie,

I will try that now,

Charles

Nitro I use my DFX at the beach all of the time. I like to use the Relic mode to hunt the beach. Be sure you stay in the best data mode on the freq. This will allow the DFX to eliminate the salt. Raise your pre amp to 3 and your AC sens. as high as you can with out getting any chatter. usually able to set mine on 70 - 76. Hope this helps. Do not worry about the DFX not balancing on the beach it will track the ground as you start hunting.

charles... listen to greenie about how to get an account there. yes i am a member of that forum. I have a chart somewhere that was the best tool I found for the DFX. shows how to get maximum sensitivity out of the machine in most conditions. When i get home tonite, i'll try to find it. Drop me a message with your email. I'll try to scan or photo it and send it to you.
