Wondering what the the comparison would be if the Dfx was in Mixed Mode 9 inch coil on both detectors

The Excal doesn't run on mixed mode but 17 freq while the DFX only two. Excal can sound off on a ring under heavy iron while a DFX will mask out the ring.

Actually it has been prove that there is no minelab that runs 17 frequencies at the same time. They normally run at 3 frequencies. minelab claims frequencies that are mare harmonics of the used frequencies. So basically it's a 3 frequency detector vs. a two frequency one....

It transmits 17 and picks the best 3 to use for current conditions, it is constantly checking for the best 3 to use. DFX uses the same 3 all the time..

I'm 95% sure the dfx uses 2 frequencies & the vx3,v3,&v3i are the ones that use 3 all.the time
Dfx uses: 3khz,15khz both or u can.just use single
Vx3,v3,v3i uses: 2.5khz,7.5khz, & 22.5 all at the same time or u can use a single frequency

I know for long time Whites paid ML for the right to use multifreq (3 freqs) on the BeachHunter. I use to own one and it listed ML patent number right on the control box....

Just my personal opinion no, the Excal still has 17 freqs to choose from while DFX constantly uses the same 2 freqs.

I had a hunting partner that had the DFX while I was using excal. After hunting beaches together for about 4 months he sold his DFX and bought an Excal...
