There is a spot along the river that apparently was a dumping area, but there are a lot of rocks protruding out in to the river which makes me think there was a pier with cribs or something there also.

The number of brass hinges I found was amazing. Some were on the surface. At first I was just going to toss them in the brass box, but with winter coming on I started cleaning them and replacing the steel pins. It seems a shame to destroy quality items like these, hopefully I will find uses for them in projects.

Oh yes, I found a small sterling band, (what looks like) silver broach with colored stones, 1897 V nickel, brass(?) bracelet, 1919 and 1937 wheat, multiple decayed religous metals, sinkers, bullets, etc., but none as interesting as so many brass hinges!

match sets would sell nice

You should figure out a project to build and use them. Build a storage trunk or something. Great finds.

A very strange, But Cool find for sure......Makes you wonder why ?.......Hmmmm........................HH

Nice! You could polish them well in a vibratory tumbler with crushed walnut shells and a product called Flitz. How about a pic of the other finds??

Looks interesting

sometimes when you get a concentration of nails, hinges, etc...(especially out in the middle of a field) its where they had a bonfire and burnt a lot of old wood/boards......

Someone probably dumped some old cabinets in the water. It is amazing what people used to throw in. They sure look like they'd be reusable.

looks like good quality salvage to me

Nice! I'd certainly find use for them or sell them to someone that would!

HH

Some of the other goodies - just found the pic on my phone!
