Check the terminal tabs. Also, some batteries are a tad shorter. Try putting a quarter in the cap in-between the battery and cap. Cant hurt to try. Do you know the new battery is good?

Thanks McK, Yes, tested battery, it's good. Tried spacer to improve contacts. Just got email from maker in Turkey, after sending them a message yesterday. They're shipping me a new one. So, can't complain. I ordered the Garrett AT PP yesterday. Can't hurt to have two.

Kray Gelder - The Makro, being waterproof, needs to have the battery compartment cap on very snug. I had an issue with my Nokta PP at first, but after initial false start, (and battery test), I discovered the problem, and with every battery since, no problems. Try it.

Eyemustdigtreasure, Bingo. Per your suggestion, I really cranked it tight. It works! Over tightening plastic usually breaks something, but in this case I guess you have to. Thanks. Back in business.

Kray Gelder - Great!
I had the same feeling, actually timid with my valuable gear, most being PLASTIC!
Enjoy!
