I'm curious as to the difference between Whites 5000d series2, 6000d series 2 and 4000d series. Is one significantly better than the other for relics? I have 2 5000d series 2 machines and am thinking of getting another vintage machines and was curious if it makes much difference between those models.
Hello Gillious. I am a Minelab guy. Used to have a buddy that was a White's guy. Maybe there are some on here to help you. I am curious as to the answer. Could you not find anything on internet/YouTube?

Short of release dates I haven't found anything that really compares them . About the only thing I can find is the 6000d series has an excellent reputation.

Likely just have to read about each one and sort it from there. I would think the 6000d would win the prize. Let us know what you find.

I definitely plan to keep researching it. If I find out more before I get a solid response I will definitely post what I find out.

good deal. Thanks and good luck.

I never used those series much but absolutely loved my White's Eagle II.

I cut my teeth on a 4000D in 1981, bought it from Keith Zorger (White's of Mid-Atlantic), great machine! I sold I t when I took a hiatus from detecting for a few years, and when I got back into it I bought a 6000Di Pro. Both were excellent machines in their day, with (from what I remember) the 6000 gaining a little more depth, and having more discrimination. I actually still have the owners manual for the 6000. The machine balance wasn't the best, and with the thicker battery packs they tended to be heavier, but I was younger and stronger, and could swing them for hours on end! I seem to remember more knobs on the 6000 but I'll have to check on what they were. The price point on the 4000 was a lot easier on my wallet at the time (around $250 new), with the 6000 being more pricier and the top of White's line. Wish I could tell you more, maybe after I dig out the owners manual it'll come back to me.

I moved ya from HELP! over to FORUMS > METAL DETECTING > FORUM BRANDS > WHITE'S for more exposure.

I had a 5000D Series 2 back in the mid-80's..loved it! Faster the coil
could swing, the deeper it hunted..:icon_thumright:

A minor update... I did find out the difference between a D series and a Di series. The DI series has materials written on the indicators instead of just numbers like on the D series. Whether or not there are any functional differences I have yet to find out.
