So with the temps. going up to 60F.
The call of the dirt was calling.
So I quickly did some chores, jumped in the truck, battery dead.
Plan B grab the Honda and off I went-only to realize 3 miles from home I forgot the shovel, quick return, and off to the site.
1 week can sure make the difference in digging.
Soft as butter yesterday instead of a frozen landscape.

Lots of buttons, not a coin to be had this trip.
9 buttons, 6 with shanks, (1 broken)3 without.
2 Tombacks, one pewter with a NRF and a Broad arrow. (Military)
If anyone knows the ID it would be appreciated.

So a pocket watch works, 2 flattened musket balls, buckle broken in 2 pieces, trigger guard.

Writing this I realized I didn't have all the finds.
Lead barrel tap, klinker from the lime kilns, brass rivet with the leather attached, (RAU F CO. PROV. RI.) 30-30 casing, lead bullet, knife blade tip.

Some old stuff for sure!

Meant to be an English broad arrow on that button? R for Royal?
What is it? L.o.l..

Congrats! Workable ground early is a bonus.
Thanks RC
It's a pewter or lead button of some military unit.:dontknow:
The frost is gone, fields are sticky.

Looks like a good hunt. That corn stubble probably keeps it interesting, but makes gridding easier.

Thank Robert
Easy digging but hard to swing in the corn.
The wind row is easier as 95% is flattened.
For grinding it's easy.
