Hello - I'm starting to spend more time hunting dimes and I need a little help. I found 3 CWR's of dimes that were rolled between 1977 and 1982 (oldest coin in the rolls were '77, '81 & '82 respectively). Many of the late '70's / early '80's coins look like they're fresh off the presses. Is there anything specific to look for in these coins? Any value in the higher MS coins? I pulled 2 silvers out of the 3 rolls and 5 silver dimes total yesterday out of $350 (the other 3 silvers came from the same role).

So far I've hunted $22K in dimes and found the following Rosie's (the ones in bold, plus 10 Merc's including a nice '16-S, a 12k gold Franklin mint token and a '49 CAD dime)

Thanks for looking. I've found some hard dimes (the '55-P is outstanding) to find but am missing some easy ones. I was skunked on halves this weeks and am stuck at 199 Buffalo's (been almost $700 in nickels) and can't seem to find #200. I did find a '03-S proof nickel which is a cool find.

Thanks

I would say buy a RED BOOK and read read read about what you want to hunt, and go from there. It all depends what you put into it, and what you plan to get out of it in the long run.

I'm sorry, did you say you found a 24k gold token in a roll of dimes???

It was 12k, but yes. Found in a CWR. Said 0.500 right on the front. George Washington token from 1976.

1982 no P would be one to look for in your rolls. It's missing the mintmark

Per the Cherrypicker's guide:

Besides the 1982 no P,

1983-D repunched mintmark
1985-P/1987-P possible misplaced mintmark

From "Strike it Rich With Pocket Change,"

1981P- Veritcal Line of a P visible just below the neck EF- $25
1982P- Missing P (of course) EF- $50
1982D- Misplaced horizontal D located between U and S of TRUST EF- $50
1983D- Strong second D above primary D EF- $10
1983D- Strong second D below primary D EF- $10
1985P- Outlined shape of P on Roosevelts neck EF- $35
1986P- Outlined shape of P next to rim above primary P EF- ?
1986P- Vertical bar of P visible below neck near primary P EF- ?
1987D- Repunched D EF- $15
1989P- Outlined shape of P visible below the neck near primary P EF- ?

Thanks for the tips folks. I moved late last summer and haven't been able to find my cherry pickers since then.
