All of my half dollar veins are tapped out! I still pick up whatever loose and CWRs that I can find. I am finding 3-4 40%ers a month.

My new goal is 2-3 dime boxes a day, 6 days a week. Hopefully I will find 15-20 silver dimes a week.

So far:
Sunday
Box #1 - 2 FDRs
Box #2 - 3 FDRs
Monday
Box #1 skunk
Box #2 1 FDR
Tuesday
Box #1 4 FDRs and 1x1968 Canadian (50% Ag)
Box #2 1 FDR
Box #3 1 Merc (1944)
Wed
Box #1 skunk
Box #2 skunk
Thurs
Box #1 shunk
Box #2 2 FDRs
Box #3 shunk

Totals: 14 US silver dimes and one 50% Canadian dime

Took a trip to Windsor to search coin and dump my Canadian coins

Just curious -- what is the value in collecting nickels from the 1950s and 1960s? They aren't silver, so I was just curious as to why you guys hold on to them. I don't do many nickel boxes, but when I do, I strictly keep just the bufs and War nicks. I send the rest into the wild. Am I making a mistake?

I don't keep US nickels from the 1960s. I only keep 1940-55 if they are VF20 (or better) or very low mintage (<10 million, 1950, 1950D, 1951S, 1955)
The nickels mentioned above are Canadian 99.9% nickel and I keep them as nickel bullion.

I keep pre-1960 nickels since they may fetch a premium on eBay sometime in the future. It also provides a way to hoard them, since the metal value may exceed face value in the future.

Okay, that makes sense. Good luck with the hoarding! Also, I will start watching out for some of the dates you mentioned MIHunter!

Friday no coins

This week's totals:
23 silver dimes from 10.7 boxes
21 FDR, 1 Merc, 1 Canadian 80%
1 War nickel

1.71 oz of silver for $2.35

Lots of dump finds
My credit union has new coin counters that have a magnet under the coin intake.
By reaching in with my index finger I can push the coins through the machine and they come out the reject tray.
This week I have harvested $4.51 in Canadian coins. Over time this will hopefully add up!

Wow, that's great you found a barber. I'm still looking for my first ten cent haircut.
