That is so cool !

Reminded me of the time my stepdaughter had a rented car with an automatic sunroof.
Her and Mom were driving over the mountains in the snow and she wanted to see the snow fall.
There WAS about 6" of snow on top before the sunroof opened. LOL

Maybe not meant for snow or rainy areas but is still cool.

Kind of a nice idea if you want both seats opened at once. What if you have a dog or two in the back seat. There might be a slight problem keeping them in the car if the door is suddenly gone. LOL

No kidding. Now when the wipers that "sense" the amount of rain on the windshield malfunction, and the temp guage for the climate control breaks, and the disappearing door fails to disappear--you can sit there in Style with the wipers going on a sunshiny day, enjoying the 90 degree temps inside your car and call on your cell phone for them to come and use the jaws of life on that spiffy new door to get you out.

I watched the powerpoint presentation but can't figure out what happens to the windows. If they roll down inside the door then how do they bend enough to go under the car? I can't see it.

Such cars as the Kaiser Daren, the doors slid into the front fender was short lived. Others such as Mercedes Gull Wing Coupe and Deloren had the swing up doors, also were short lived.

Periodically, car designers propose alternative solutions which provides a clean design, however, are not practical when considering safety issues and issues pertaining to body damage which renders the doors to be non-functional.

Fun and novel, but no thank you.

If anyone has a spare Mercedes Gull Wing coupe hanging just taking up space I'll take it . I'll even pay the freight . It's the least I can do for a fellow TH'er .

Was a little kid camping when some folks drove up to the boat ramp in a little convertable.
Early 1960 something.
Then he slowly drove into the water and went away.
I thoughy that was pretty cool.
I think it was in a James Bond film.
Not the submarine, the car/boat.
