USGS website did alot of research on US mineral assets. Thats one good thing about a gigantic government they do some work for us.

Tells you where they found potential for gold mining in each area of your state. In my case CO. So you know where to go looking.

You should type "Mineral Resource Potential" in the exact phrase part.

For example it showed where one high potential placer and one secondary placer exist on the map. Also near that area another high potential area for finding gold.
