This distinctive was found on a German tench in Salerno battlefield (sept.1943).
Any idea about it? Ii it a simple souvenir of Ioannina a greek town? Or perhaps some other thing?

Thanks Alan. I know it is Aslan Pasha Mosque. I want to understand if it was a souvenir take perhaps by a german soldier who fought in Ioannina in april 1941 and then lost in Salerno 1943 or if it is some other thing. Thanks as always.

Hello Matteo,
As you know, the Germans, Fascist Italians and the Bulgarians were all in Greece during WW II. My guess is that someone in one of those groups lost the pin in Salerno.
All the best,
Don.....

Hi Matteo, please look at the 3 pics below. In the first I think I see some numbers. The second pic is a close-up of the first. In the 3rd pic I think I see a circle and diamond (possible maker's mark??). Take a look w/ a magnifying glass. If any of my observations are correct, it may help you learn more about the artifact.

I believe the item is a tourist piece from one of the silversmith/metal shops of Ioannina. It could have belonged to a German.

I'm guessing it's a volksmarch hat pin.
