So I have been searching far and near for Karl Von Mueller books and I found one of interest in a old antique shop that just had tons of stuff here in SD. I bought the book for 5 bucks.

Here are the specks:
Cover says:
Karl Von Mueller
The Treasure Hunter's Manual
7th Edition (not #7, like on The Ram Pub.)

Second page blank

Third Page:
The Treasure Hunter's Manual
Seventh Edition
by Karl von Mueller
This is Book No. 3961

Forth Page:
Published by
The Gold Bug
Box 588
Alamo, California 94507

Library of Congress Catalog Card No. 66-13565

Copyright 1966
by Gladyce M. Miller
All Rights Reserved
Printed in the United States of America

After that page the dedication and everything is the same as the reprint from Ram Pub. Except.......

Instruments and How to Use Them (chapter is different)
the pictures in between page 206-207 are in a different spot
Gold Dredging for Profit is not in this book like in the Ram Pub one
All the Appendices are different in this one vs the Ram Pub.

Any ideas?

Brian

looking on line they look like they go for $24 for the 7th edition

So it is just the first publication of the Treasure Hunters Manual #7?

Just search the Library of Congress number for rarity and value.

Interesting topic .

I have recently been researching old / rare books on treasure hunting/detecting , and that is the first edition the GoldBug edition . Tell me does it have an article in it How To Make or How Metal Detectors are Made ?
I am pretty sure the Editions following removed that particular chapter . The Authors name is fictional , I forget his real name but apparently he knew C Garrett and he convinced him to withdraw that portion of the book in subsequent reprints !! Anyway that's what I read in a forum somewhere very recently , like last week .

Also the 6th- 7th editions are really 1st. and 2nd editions , there are only the 2 that have been published , the rest being reprints , hope this helps .

Not sure if the goldbug edition has hard and soft cover versions . Nice Find , Very Collectible .
