White's DFX 300 Sunray DX-1 probe/ XLT Sunray XL-1 probe
I keep some of the older coins I have found to show people what you can find metal detecting.
I was wondering if others do this as well?

1844 Canadian half penny
1844 obv.webp

1837 Canadian penny (big piece of copper!)

1844 US large cent

1826 US large cent (seen more then its share of cleaning
but still my oldest and best find)
1844 obv.webp

and some silver
1943 washington quarter and a 1852 3 cent.

Their conditions are bad enough that the only one
I put in a holder is the 3 cent.

Donny

While it would be a nice way to start a conversation, to me it would be like showing pictures of my grand kids or baby pictures. Nice for me, boring for them. ;D

No like i said in other post's i don't show or tell anyone what i find.......And like Sandman. said it would bore them just like pictures would ....As you see what i say across the bottom here.......................................Jim LET..NO ..ONE ..KNOW ..WHAT ..WERE .OR ..WHEN.......

No I don't either, if they ask what I found I might say "a few coins but nothing impressive" or something similar.

I also agree with SandMan.

I put my finds in a display case and if someone is interested I get it out or if a buddy at work is interested I take it in my wallet wrapped in paper.

I used to keep a 1916 S dime in my wallet.

I now have a desk at work and I keep a shadow box on my desk that contains a few interesting relics. I also have a little metal detecting army guy on my desk. People seem interested when they come to see me. I will show and tell some of the things. I usually get lots of people telling me of projects going on around town. I think lots of people think it is cool and I don't think showing them anything will ruin my chances to hunt their property. I always emphasize that for everyone of these really good targets there were hundreds of pieces of trash I had to recover.
