If you go to major retailers many times you will see their name on the appliance. Do you know their manufacturer, or do you ever ask? Over the years I have called on most of the major manufacturers and was surprised to see who they sold to. Being a smart consumer will save you some big bucks by not having the "name" attached

Maytag, kitchenaid, Jenn-air, Hoover are all the same company (sure I missed a few).

Saved $500 on our last fridge by buying "kenmore".

Same for food products. I always compare the ingredients and nutrional value, most of the time the brand name and store brand are the same. How ever be carefull, be sure to look at the Vol or weight. One may be cheaper only because it may have .5 ounce less product in the same size container.
