Charles Stuart, going by the name “Snake the Bigfoot Hunter” claims to have found a recently-dead but partly-decomposed Bigfoot corpse in New York’s Adirondack mountains in October 2024. He dubbed the alleged 8 feet tall 300lb creature “Dack” and it was first publicly displayed at the Great New York State Fair on 20 August 2025.
Amid claims that this was a money-making hoax (some calling the corpse a “cheesy fake”) when said he planned to exhibit it again this year, (from 26 August to 7 September) he posted on his ‘bigfootsremains’ social media page:
“DACK” BIGFOOT SPECIMEN. DNA @Cornell University Verified by Six Nation Indian Tribes of NY. Featured on ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC & Japanese Doc. Body has been taxidermied to preserve. DACK has been seen by over 60,000 people and will be shown again this summer.
He also produced a 21-page report alleging it to have been obtained via a friend called Misty Pritchard at Cornell University’s veterinary biobank after he gave hair, blood, and faecal samples to her. The report purports to show the samples determined that "the body has 58.5% Neanderthal and 41.5% human DNA."
Cornell University told The NY Post those claims are bogus and a spokesperson was quoted: “Cornell did not conduct any testing for [Stuart,] or present a report” and “the documents the Bigfoot hunter had posted on his website were not from the college. ”This is the first page of the alleged report which is headed “CORNELL UNIVERSITY BIO DNA LAB” under their crest and names Kristy Richards, PhD as Clinical Supervisor.
The seal is authentic and Kristy Richards is a real person at Cornell, but the University does not have an administrative entity or facility using that exact title. Also, the Official Cornell University Brand Center guidelines strictly dictate how the university's historical seal is displayed and official stationery uses specific typography and exact spacing rules that do not match the format shown on the report. Representatives from Cornell University reportedly explicitly reviewed the document bearing this header and confirmed that the report, laboratory name, and associated DNA findings are completely bogus. No person named Misty Pritchard with any formal connection to Cornell has so far been traced.
Stuart is now threatening to sue Cornell University for $10m, unless an admission that “the specimen was indeed received, logged, and processed by Cornell personnel” is issued, saying that the university’s denial is “knowingly false”. In a letter to the university he reportedly wrote: “By telling the public and industry partners that Cornell never tested the specimen, Cornell did not simply issue a denial – it publicly tarnished my impeccable reputation” and “Your representatives publicly repudiated [the findings of the report], abandoning scientific integrity and throwing me under the bus to avoid public scrutiny.”
Asked if any other mainstream bodies or experts had verified the corpse, Mr Stuart reportedly said it had been an “uphill battle” because “Bigfoot has been considered kind of taboo”, adding: ”We’re trying to get as much people to see this thing as possible,” He has also said that the reason the university is denying that they tested the Bigfoot remains is part of a conspiracy to keep the truth from coming out. "CORNELL IS FLAT OUT LYING — I WILL NOT BE SILENCED," he was quoted in the NY Post. "This isn't a dispute over the facts of the report — it's panic over control. I bypassed the machine and went straight to the public. I was warned from day one not to share this report. I released the unredacted DNA report anyway because I believe in transparency and the intelligence of the public."
He said that he's planning to release a documentary which will feature a Cornell lab technician whistleblower, adding: “The whole conspiracy against Bigfoot is going to be revealed by the person who performed the test on the remains” and "This is essentially a David VS Goliath story and we all know who wins in the end."
Although one shouldn’t necessarily judge a book by its cover, this is Mr Stuart. Try not to laugh.
