**SILVERWARE** I detected this at a 1829’s homestead and the only makers mark is “MANUFACTURES” on the front of the fork. It’s not stamped anywhere else. Is it silver plated bronze? Thank you IMG_0456.webpIMG_0457.webpIMG_0458.webp

It does appear to be mid 19th century. The type is called a fiddle back, due to the shape of the handle. Looking carefully at a close up of the damaged areas, it does appear to be silver plated bronze. The initials were those of the original owner.

Thank you smokey. I think I see the silver flaking where the prongs are bent. I did learn it was a threaded fiddle style fork mid 1809’s but wasn’t sure if it was solid sliver and why the Makers Mark was on the front with a generic stamp “Manufacturers”?
