Does this look like a good qaurtz vein for gold?

I found a good vein today in blue granite, just wondering what to do next. My detector is having fant signals but I’m not sure. I can’t see any gold on it. Should I break it off and crush it.

In the first pic it looks like the 2 rocks melted together where the qaurtz goes deeper down.

The solution that comes up from deep down in the earth is super hot! As it reaches California's tilted layers it squirts up through the existing cracks between layers and as it goes up it cools. As it cools, IF there is any gold there in any Significant amount it precipitates out of solution into veins. IF!

If you have access to a good crusher then yes, break a good hunk off, crush really fine and pan or miller table it out to see if any yellow colors show up. Gotta try something to answer that question itching in your mind. Good Luck!..................63bkpkr

Well said 63bkpkr, you have to scratch that itch or it'll drive you crazy. I swam a river last year and found a hard packed crack high up on the bank, decided to leave it to work stuff closer to the water. It is driving me insane having to wait to get back to that crack!

Cj take a hammer and chisel down there and get a good sample. If you don't have or know someone with a crusher there are other ways to do it yourself, YouTube it for ideas. I broke up a few samples of quartz last summer and did find one with extremely fine gold in it so you never know until you do the work.

I found a quartz deposit a "few years back" kinda like what Cj is talking about. I walked around it, stood on it, looked at it and walked away from it. Like Allen said the itch is burning to find that thing again, its not much of a deposit only 40' to 65' in length and 3' to 6' in width. At the time I saw it, the quartz was roughly 2' out of the ground. I've been trying to find it for the last two years! I'm close, just not on top of it.................63bkpkr

i found a hard packed gyro hole a good 50- 70 ft above the high water line, well out of flood zone, about 20" round, who knows how deep.....i found some good color as i panned out the top. havnt been back in years as the metal detector has been my focus for some time now.... i would like to get back to see what is in the bottom of that hole.

as for the vein, crush and pan. your detector could be responding to variations in ground, ie: the vein, or one side is different than the other

Must be nice to have the confidence to ignore almost sure things in favor of hit and miss ground that is potentially richer.

Of course you must check it out. I would also check the ground below and downhill from the vein. Thousands of years of erosion did most of the work already. No gold in the float below the vein.... no gold in the vein. TTC
