Does anyone have any knowledge of the buttons used on the coats of the Civil War soldiers? Do you think this one looks like a real Civil War period coat button?

What do the real hessian buttons look like

I am fairly certain that it was a case of mis-identification that attributed these buttons to the Hessian soldiers in the first place. I don't believe there were any Hessian buttons that looked like that.
