Don't you stick your tongue out at me!

Here's a couple of funny pictures of the whitetail deer we feed by our house. They love the cattle cake/cubes and corn we put out for them and tend to lick their licks because it tastes sooooo good to them :laughing7:

, they like to savor every bite!
The first picture is of the buck we call "Cicatriz".
The last picture is of the "Tall Buck"(who has shed both his horns).

Yep, found one of the Tall Bucks antlers! He left it laying right on the "feedline" ! Which is pretty cool---its like he's giving back to us for feeding him so good all winter

Here's a pic. of his sheds from the last three years. His main beam has grown from 21 1/2" last year to 23" this year. He gained an inch on his G2(tine) and 1 1/2" on his G3(tine), but his overall mass(at the base of his horns) is still the same as last years.
Finding those sheds is so much fun! Its really neat to measure and see how much the deer has grown! We've also found a couple of the smaller bucks sheds. Some of the mature bucks, like Cicatriz, still haven't lost their horns, yet. Maybe he'll drop his horns right here by the house, too!

. Right now I have them laying on the top of an old hump back trunk, and on the mantle, and on the coffee table and on the entertainment center :laughing7:

You know why it looks like he's winking in that second picture, Seger? His eye got poked out by another buck---he must have been winking at that other bucks girlfriend

Seriously, though, his eye did get put out while he was fighting another buck last year. He's one of our favorite bucks because he has a double throat patch and those really long tines.

Thanks, wildcatman71! We've been looking every evening for the sheds from these deer. We would sure like to find the ones from the buck in the first picture, but as of this evening he still has both.

Thanks naturegirl! The Tall Buck shed the one horn and carried the other one around for a couple more days before finally losing it somewhere. Maybe after the spring burns they do here on the prairie, we'll find the other shed. The buck we call "Elliot" has shed both of his horns, too. Here's a picture of him.

That's exactly what all these deer are thinking, DigginThePast! I think they just KNOW when hunting season is over.....they become less fearful and we can usually sit outside in the evenings and watch them.

Hehehe We have observed them for years. They Know when to hide the horns
