I've read where several here dowse while driving. I tried this today. My rod would turn outward, inward, become straight and sometimes spin wildly in circles. Windows closed, A/C pointing away from the rod, no rod interference. So what causes all these reactions? What rod reaction are you experienced drive dowsers looking for? When drive dowsing have you already map dowsed an area for something specific, or are you just driving the roads and searching randomly for something?

Hey Digum ..I am one of those guys. I usually know what I am looking for. I use a baited rod most of the time. It works best if you put you elbow on the center console. The rod will wonder a little as if it is searching. When it turns the direction it is pointing is the side of the road that the target is on. I go down the road at the speed limit. When a feel a short pull on the rod I know I have passed it. I turn a round and come back slowly. When the rod turns I will get out and check it out more and do whatever needs to be done.
I find that the limits on depth and distance are shorter when in the automobile. An example is a gold vein. I seem to have a 20 foot depth and a range of about 4 miles when in the car. Again it takes a lot of practice and learning to do it right.
This is another way to save time….If you have three or four sites you can check them out in a hurry. If there is parallel roads in the area you can take GPS readings and confirm your map dowsing fast and easy…..Art

Something has happened to my driving and dowsing. It's much safer now. I went to a heavier rod and shortened it to about 9 1/2". It doesn't spin wildly anylonger and it's no longer a physical threat. Now that I've done that, while driving past an abandoned farm where I have always felt their might be a cache buried, my rod turned and followed the yard area and swung back into me when passing it. I turned around and the same thing happened. Two more times from another direction at a slower speed, and the same thing. That's the only place the rod pointed to. We may be on to something here.

I read that a couple of states are going to ban dowsing-and-driving. They're going to make everyone start using "hands-free" dowsing in their cars....

Hey Digum……Thanks for the information……I to have noticed that since I now use shorter rods they work much better than they did before. Your right about the rods not wanting to let go of the target. Another thing...Don't assume that you know where it is...If there is another road that runs behind your target, go over there and narrow down where it is...Art

Actually Art there is a one lane county road near the location my rod turned. I assumed the rod was pointing at the old house site. Maybe I shouldn't assume. Thanks, I'll check that out tommorrow. Mike I have been using 18" rods. That's my favorite length but I'll make a 20" set and experiment. I have a little gold to play with. I'm not in a gold area but that doesn't mean there's not a gold cache buried around here. When the 9 1/2" rod locked on, it locked on hard. The first time I past the site, the attraction was very obvious about 200 yards before I got to it and about the same distance past. My speed was around 50mph and the rod turned into my chest and pulled away from my hand hard enough that I lost control of it. At the slower speeds when passing the site again the pull was just as strong. The first time at a higher speed I'd have to say the rod pull and turn was almost like a violant reaction.

I drove by that same place several more times at slower speeds and also from a different road and direction. I get the same rod reaction as before from every direction. The rods point just right of where the old house used to be. It's been gone for around 20 years. I even walked along the ditch with rods and the same thing happened. If this was a water line I was locating, since I've done that many times before, I'd say "dig here". Being new to searching for treasure with rods, I suppose the only way I'll find out for sure is attempt to pinpoint the target and do the same thing, dig. I have permission from the landowner so I guess I need to get my shovel.

Tape a piece of gold on your rods. Then check it out. You may also want to try silver and diamonds. Why dig for an unknown object when it is simple to find out what is there… Baited rods will close only on a like material...Art

DWI... Driving While Ideomotoring

Hey Mike….I have been around a lot of dowsers. A few people will have their rods spin. It is a personal thing. It may or may not happen. If it should, It is the way it works for you….Art
