Draped Bust & Vermont Copper

HI folks,
Went back to the old homesight where Derrick found the king george and musket piece. It took 6 or 7
hours but I found a couple more goodies. This is my first vermont copper,it is in really rough shape
but I will take it.The draped bust largie is pretty much toast also but still cool to find coins from
that time period.I got permission to hunt a early 1800's house with a very large lawn today.Derrick
and I will be checking that out thursday.Hopefully will have some finds to post from that hunt.
Thanks for looking and happy hunting
Barry

Re: Draped Bust & Vermont Copper

Barry from the Upstate of NY,

Those two coppas are both awesome. Even though the Vermont coppa is not in the greatest shape, it is still a top-notch find made by a top-notch hunter.

You and Derek are going to find handfuls of nice artifacts at the new site.

Keep on hunting with that fever, fellow Colonial metal datecting enthusiast!

Congrats on old finds. You are now connected to some one in the early history of our country. I think that is so neat.

Re: Draped Bust & Vermont Copper

Great finds. Not too often that you see a Vermont copper posted. The Connecticut and New Jersey varieties seem to be a little more common. I was lucky enough to stumble across a couple Vermonts, the first of which is in my avatar picture. I don't think I'll ever find another one like that. It's hard to tell from the picture (Pictures just never do the large coppers justice). What variety is the one you found? The draped bust looks sweet too. Congratulations!!

Great finds Barry. I think you have the right idea. You seem to take great joy and pride in holding a piece of history. How did it get there and who lost it? These are the things that make this hobby the most intersting thing I have ever done. Good luck in your future hunts.

Re: Draped Bust & Vermont Copper

Awesome, I haven't dug an old copper in a while. Makes me want to hit up some old farms etc.. I'm still looking for the really rare Ohio Copper. ;D
