Great finds! I guess there must have been an Indian Wars site in that guys yard. I would just use tooth pick and tooth brush on the plate, no water.

Steve gives good advice. All I did too mine was let it air dry for a day or so then tooth pick and dry tooth brush. Work on it a few times and it should look great. Congratulations on a great find. May be more great relics there

HH, RN

You did great! Not often does one find a US Buckle and a Seated half in the same day! Keep it up!!

Congrats Sir , you have raised the bar high for yourself now :)

Freaking awesome finds Jimmy :headbang: Congrats on 2 big bucket listers. I'm sure more good stuff will come to light from that yard.

Fantastic relics and Seated 1/2, congratulations! :notworthy:

Dang Jimzz, looks like you found or used "The Secret" I just know you've been thinking about digging both of those this season. Congrats on having a double bucket lister day. Heck I'm still stoked from my Friday find. I bet your super stoked at this moment. Enjoy the feeling. Congrats on those 2 amazing finds.

were the, plate, half dollar and taps close together? if so it makes me believe you may have stumbled on a dead person. I would not be surprised if you were to find bones and buttons and maybe even other items in that same area.

Now that's a good hunt right there congrats on the buckle and seated half

Wow , you are pretty far South and West of most Civil War relics i would think (aren't you near Las Cruces or Deming ?) I'm not far (15 miles or so ) from the Glorieta battlefield areas . Nice Finds ! How great to grab that Seated half - I'm still looking forward to my first Seated coin of any kind .

there was all of civil war activity here and yes I'm in Las Cruces even a battle took place the Confederates and ran the Union Army out and took over Mesilla
