A stone drill could have been used for drilling anything softer than itself.
Wood,shell,bone,teeth,pottery

To make large diameter holes in hardstone for things like bannerstones a hollow shaft often Kane was used with sand to drill out a plug from the stone.
 

thanks, nice examples have never found anything with hole in it

Some "Drills" were not actually used as such. Check for polish and use wear long the tip and the sides. If it was actually used as a Drill it will show both. I have seen a lot of what people refer to as Drills over the years that show absolutely no evidence of ever being used to drill anything and I believe they were either Pins or possibly clasps used to hold Hides together.
 

that makes sense. the red one has no Polish. like the white. one
 

Some where used to drill with and some where used to peck thur a item
