Drought Ends with DOUBLE GOLD!

I have been on a gold drought for a while and got skunked at the beach on my summer vacation a few weeks ago. I had a weekend trip to Raleigh and on the way back had to pick up the dog from the boarding facility. Turns out they didn't open until 4 so I had an hour to kill and spied a tot lot near the facility. I jumped out and immediately got a good 12 signal with the MXT under the swings. I thought it was foil but it turned out to be a gold nugget ear ring. It was missing the post which is where the mark would be but it acid tested to 10KT. A few minutes later got another great signal and pulled a nice 10KT sapphire ring. I broke my drought and scored gold #6 & #7 for the year. (ring #35). Last week I also turned in my clad for the year and got $209. With it I bought an 1853 $2.5 Gold dollar for $204 plus tax. It is XF and in great condition. Hyatt Gun & Coin Shop treated me right.

What a way to end your drought! I hope I end mine soon! I have never found anything good at tit lots, but you hit the jackpot! I'm still saving my clad & will do the same, great investment. Congrats Jim! All I have for the board in jewelry is a junk kids ring...

great finds. cool that you got to buy a gold coin for your collection with the clad. whenever I sell anything or cash in clad it usually goes for something un-fun like bills, gas, or groceries.

I have been in a gold drought for quite some time. I started to invest my clad into a peer to peer lending site. Trying to teach one of my kids how money works since she is interested in the whole interest thing. Thought that teaching her from a lending perspective might be more beneficial.

Very cool idea PennyFarmer. Teaching your kids about money is always a good thing to do. For me I put so much work into digging the clad I want something to show for all that effort.

My take on the clad is that its free money. If you have any other hobby it usually does not return any money. I just figure I am out and the clad is a bonus. I used to just recycle it into a vending machine at work. You can blow through your clad pretty quickly that way. If in a couple of years I have a sizeable portfolio I will write a little story about our adventure.
