Dry panning

I'm new to prospecting but have been very interested for a long time. My name is Danny by the way. I work in 29, Palms, CA so a lot of my prospecting will be up here in the desert area. I was wondering if there are any techniques to panning without water? Ill be doing most of my prospecting with a metal detector but I've got a lot of wonder about possible dry panning. Thanks!

Hi Tree,
There is dry panning but it is very time consuming. I would look into a drywasher. Tom Massie of gold fever show recently had an episode about panning and he demonstrated dry panning. Like i said very time consuming. I would do it only in desparation. but that is me. By the way welcome to the forum.

While it is possible, you are so much better off to use a small hand operated DW to sample. build one or you can find one for sale
