dry rotted cables

found blue excaliber new in box,so they say,but cables to headphones and coil peeling like bad sunburn,said been in closet for 10 plus years,id on it ex1197,its a 1000 ,im a whites man just never seen rotting like this on saltwater units ,guy wants 100s of dollars but i read main board is 700 to replace blah blah ,any input i said 100 bucks and he seemed insulted...
