Dry spanish diggins

Does anyone know if a person can detect the dry spanish diggings outside of Georgetown C A? My experience with most places is they are all homes and private property. I want to go check it out and try my luck but don't want to drive that far only to find I cant work the ground

Looks like it is all homes and private property now. Bummer. I really wanted to go work that area.
