Dry wash gold detecting

I would like to try my hand at metal detecting for nuggets (float). Suggestions for locations in Arizona or NM would be appreciated. I have been metal detecting since the early 60s in Colorado and (Wyoming, along the Oregon Trail), but never searched primarily for float gold in the desert.
