It's not a knock your socks off find or anything but it's the first one I've ever dug up just thought it was cool

never seen a holed buffalo..:dontknow: thought that was a 1800's fad:laughing7: Yours seems to be more precisely drilled, but just in a random location of the coin... cool.

Definitely a big hole in that one I found a 1918 wheat penny with a hole at the same site

Much smaller hole

The wheat penny hole makes sense being at the top but the buffalo one makes you :icon_scratch: lol cool find though.

I don't think these were worn as jewelry like a pendant personally... so the hole being in a proper place for that reason wouldn't really matter.

By the flair of the hole I would say it was shot with a small caliber rifle.

It actually flares on both sides.. The only way I could figure that out is that it must have been drilled from both sides

Here's an example of a bullet hole in a coin

Depends on what it was shot with. A .223 round from an AR will poke a drill press hole through a coin without bending it like that, especially if it's laying on a board or something.

Pretty sure it wasn't shot with an automatic rifle.. The patina in and around the hole is exactly the same as the rest of the coin which says the hole was created back when the coin was lost.
Old "holed" coins are fairly common.
Either way thanks for checking it out

Yep a .223 round does leave a nice neat hole. I love to fire my AR just because it is so precise when shooting at some targets. It's really fun to shoot tannerite with it.

Yeah, that wouldn't have been my first choice for a hole location. A little farther from the edge would have been better too.

Yeah very close to the edge was quite a normal thing not exactly sure why maybe they all shot in the same place lol
