Played host for my huntin' buddies from SC. including fellow videographer, SC Digger Greg from "Saving History" & his hunting buddy Russ. Save some New England history is exactly what we all did! They were hoping to maybe take a Colonial copper home, but if you look at SC Digger's post they flew home with lots more! The weekend started at the infamous button dump, then we got permission to a Colonial farm house & all cleaned up on the coins! I saw lots of silver, including one Reales, 1/2 Reales, Capped Half dimes, Large cents, etc. I wasn't finding much until I put my coil over a this rare quarter-cut 1652 Mass. Pine tree shilling :headbang:
Gutta love a piece of New England colonial history & how change was made. These pics don't do it justice. The coin details are alot nicer than these crappy phone pics show. I'll try to get better close ups with my real camera down the road....

Phenomenal. That thing is CLEAN!!

The cut pieces of Hammered coins we find here are usually clear like that one, they seem to survive better in the ground, and were proberbly cut down and lost, not long after they were made....Great Find.:headbang:

BANNER for any Pine or Oak tree Pence or Shillings or recognizable parts thereof !!! Argentium.
That cut quarter is very sharp !

BRAVO! That's a decent age to find here! :icon_thumright:

Congrats again Bill on a rare find indeed. I like the uniqueness of it having an almost flat side. Gives it character for sure. Now you need to get back into that field with a GPX and find the other 3/4s.

Awsome find!! Can you imagine finding the other three and displaying them in kind of an "exploded" view. A pine tree puzzle I guess:icon_thumright:
