Dug up a few bottles, not too old, but at least older than me!

I don't see may bottles posted here, and I hope it's okay to do so. I guess they are treasure after all. The day before yesterday (and today for a few more hours) I went to an old bottle dump I used to hunt about twenty years ago. Much to my surprise, it doesn't look like it has been dug much since then. They aren't real old, but I did manage to find a few interesting ones. I only dug for a couple of hours and there is a boatload of bottles still there. This spot will keep me busy for many years to come.



Here is a shot of a few that were visible on the surface. The big one is a milk bottle.

Good age on dump. 1900 to 1920 should be some late throws. Look for bitters and cures but you are going to do good.

I think it's probably an "unofficial" town dump by the size of it. The trash was dumped in deep washouts on a hillside in a field (now woods). The washouts are 300-400 feet long as 10-15 wide. It was dug pretty heavy 20-30 years ago, but some spots were missed. There are a ton of clear medicine (not embossed) bottles there. I don't think any were gathered up by the old diggers and I'm reburying them myself. Still pretty fun, but I don't have my hopes up for big ceramic jugs and such. Lots of boot heels too, kinda weird... I did post up a short video on my Youtube channel. Here is the link if you want to check it out.

Hey allan... yes, those are light bulbs. I have a bucket of them from the old days digging there. I doubt they work, but they are interesting!

It looks like you found a couple keepers' !!! I did some bottle diggin' a few months ago and I'm still feeling the pain in my back -I think bottle diggin' is one of the more physically challenging aspects of the hobby. More of an art then a science really.
