I don't see may bottles posted here, and I hope it's okay to do so. I guess they are treasure after all. The day before yesterday (and today for a few more hours) I went to an old bottle dump I used to hunt about twenty years ago. Much to my surprise, it doesn't look like it has been dug much since then. They aren't real old, but I did manage to find a few interesting ones. I only dug for a couple of hours and there is a boatload of bottles still there. This spot will keep me busy for many years to come.

Here is a shot of a few that were visible on the surface. The big one is a milk bottle.

I did post up a Youtube video of the dig for those that are interested. Thanks for looking!

What does the big blue one in the middle have written on it?

The cobalt says "Bromo-Seltzer Emerson Drug Company Baltimore MD". They are a fairly common find in this dump. And MKT... my videos are usually short because I figure everyone is like me and gets bored with them quickly. But I guess "you" can do like I do and fast forward through the lengthly ones if you get bored as well. I just hate to make extra work for people checking out my videos :dontknow: Thanks all for the comments and interest. And yes... I have an aching back!

Looks like buried treasure to me! What is all this talk about poison?

We're just talking about poison bottles. They are some of the most highly collectible and beautiful. This is the one I found yesterday. It's a pretty common one. I guess it was not unusual to have poisons hanging around the house with all of the patent medicines back in the day. The manufacturers would put them in bottles that had knobs, ridges, points and such on the glass so that when you picked one up you would immediately know not to take a swig. Unless of course, that was your intention :o. Correct me if I'm wrong ya'll, this is all just from the top of me head.

Absolutely killer!

Nice finds, my parents have an old bottle dump next to there house in the woods. I always see some partially in the ground. Never thought much of them until reading the forums and noticing that some bottles are rare. Maybe I will give it a try sometime. Tried detecting around the area but it was trash over load. Great finds and look forward to your future post.
