Went for a short walk today. Really didn't find much but the way the day ended made it rather interesting.
Just a couple clad coins for most of the day. The ground was dry, rocky and hard. Wore me out!
I decided I had enough so I turned along this road and headed for the car and home.
I was a fair piece from it and figured about a half hour worth of walking. I was collecting pull tabs and then my shovel moved easily and deeply into the ground. When I recovered the target it was a whole wheat toast and about 8 inches down! The ground went from dry clay to a deep, black soil! Don't have to know much to know this is a good sign!
As I creeped along, (did I mention I was already worn out!?), I started getting some finds with age.
The take:

Most of the day? The clad.
Then this remnant of a copper/brass spoon and these bullets.

Even this tiny lock is an older one.

As I was leaving I dug this thing.
I've never seen a hook like this one.

The front has this sheet of fragile metal that fell off when recovered.

Afraid its too far gone for my eyes to make out anything. Feel free to comment if you can.
The bad thing is that I found this spot after I was too tired to walk. The good thing? I now have a new starting point! You can bet I will we be returning!
Thanks for peeking folks!
Be safe!
