Dump Bank & Another Account?

I quit CRH for awhile until I found that one of the banks in town had a coin counting machine. When I called them it sounded like I would need to make an account to use it, but when I went in they let me use it without an account. I already have an account at another bank and the opening amount at this other bank is $100. Do you think I should open an account so I can keep using the machine, do you think they will cut me off if I don't open one? I really don't have any use for another account besides the counting machine :C.

I know some people say you can re-roll coins but that seems really time consuming and costly.

Re: Dump Bank & Another Account?

I would open an account if I can get free checks. Wells Fargo, where I dump, seems to like it more if I deposit the coins as opposed to asking for cash. If they like it, they are prone to not cut me off. Wells Fargo is my wife's account from before we got married.

After I dump, I then simply write a check to myself for the exact amount I dumped, and deposit it with my credit union. When I pick up rolls I do it at my credit union with the money in that account. It is a nice little circle. There are enough WFs in my area so I can rotate dumps. I don't think I've had the same teller twice. On the flip side, I'm starting to get to know the teller at my Credit Union. She's more than happy to order coins for me, never asks questions, and never charges me.

I'd look for some other branches of this bank. That way you could pick up from the other branch and dump again. That way you are getting 2 different branches for pickup. It's always useful to have more than one branch for pickup.

The bank I already have an account with is my pickup bank. My bank has only one branch in town.

Personally, I feel that I "owe" my banking business to the banks that are helpful to my CRH activities. I moved all of my main accounts (checking, savings, CDs, etc) to my pickup and dump banks. I also talked some friends and family members into doing the same. Just the right thing to do IMO.

Re: Dump Bank & Another Account?

I agree Arkie. I moved my direct deposits and business account transactions over to the accounts at the banks that I buy my coins from.

The branch that used to be my primary bank for 15 years lost my loyalty because the head teller there refused to order boxes for me, or even sell me rolls of coins when I asked. I still have my original business and personal accounts there, but I only keep enough in them to keep them open. I use that branch for a halves dump bank now, just love filling her small vault coin space with rolls of halves dumps. I don't even bring the boxes for her to store them in, I just bring the rolls in bags. If she balks at that, then I'll just close my accounts at that branch and open an account at one of the other branches of that same bank that does supply me with boxes of everything but halves. I don't want to buy halves from another branch of the same bank (same coin service) since I now dump there. Besides, all they had was boxes of skunks anyways.
