EA Armstrong Button

I found this EA Armstrong Detroit button yesterday at an 1880 permission. It’s in great shape so I don’t junk it’s very old- but I can’t find anything on it
Can you all help me on Age of it

A Michigan State Seal button. 1850. Nice find!

From what I see online, Edwin A Armstrong was located in Detroit from 1870-1892 or so, after which it moved to Chicago. So this would date in that period, if what I read is correct (hopefully someone with a book on backmarks can confirm it)

nhbenz is mighty close with his dates. Armstrong was a military tailor from 1870 to after 1900.Frank Henderson bought out the Detroit factory inc. 1892 and Armstrong relocated to Chicago and Henderson bought this out in 1894 but the Armstrong name was retained as the E A Armstrong Mf'g co, until 1923. Your Michigan button was probably made by Scovill in the early 1880s as Armstrong ordered Michigan and Kentucky buttons from them in May 1881.
