Eagle Button? Found In MN

This morning I found A 1937 Merc, and I think Its a Civil War Eagle button I'm not sure though? It has Scovill Mfg. Co Waterbury on the back. (sorry for the bad pics) and I live In Southwestern Minnesota. I did not think there any battles up this way. It maybe a repo. I still think its cool. I never though I would find anything "Civil War" up here. Ignore the chunck-o-lead thare propped up on

Nice find.....doesnt matter if there was a civil war battle there or not....the soldiers still went home after the war.

Hard to tell for the blur but it looks to be a general service CW button. Whats on the back? Nice find!

Gypsy is absoulutly right! Those coats and buttons went home with the soldier, were worn by native americans all over the US, travelled everyplace... then were prolly worn by the kids for years afterwords... It's the same button worn by the Indian fighters out west too... The same style was used until 1902 when the U.S. Army started using the Great Seal button that we still see today.
