I dug this up metal detecting last summer at an old Farm In Western West Virginia. The farm has been around since the early 1800's. I know from the research I've done on the family that lived there that many of the brothers that lived there were Union Soldiers in the Civil War. I've also dug several Union Eagle Buttons from the farm. From what I've looked at on the internet, this looks like it could be an Eagle Sword Belt Buckle Plate, but I'm not sure if that's what it is, or if it's genuine. Any help would be appreciated

Looks to be a 1851 pattern sword belt plate. The applied wreath is missing which is common on dug examples. Very cool find!
