sorry about multiple posts I cant get more than a few pics to upload before it locks up so I have to break it down into groups Iron thing 2.webpIron thing 3.webp

found this at site from 1820's so I have no idea what it is, it looks mechanical but having something mechanical in what appears to be a campsite and possible native American seems out of place, ive found flintlock pieces but I don't see where it would come off a gun anybody got any ideas?

aside from the stray cartridge and shotgun head from hunters this is only producing things falling in the early 1800's range so what would a person be ratcheting in that time period?

It's the tumbler out of a gun lock. The notches are heavily rusted.

The location of the tumbler is circled. Click on the picture to enlarge if needed.

With the square shank and the size I would guess a ratcheting table or chair. Could be a chandelier ratchet too.
