we could rent an excavator to remove the topsoil lol

This place could be good for a cache too. If a lot of junk you could use a small coil. Best would be the use of a iron mask detector first and then check out the iron targets. Coins could be buried in an iron pot. It's happened before. Also check for the privy as this could be where they dumped the bottles.

Actually I think it's probably early 1930s era. Not too sure. Just fun to speculate... I just like to hike to these for the adventure.
 

That sure is a nice place. Hope you do find some hidden treasure. There has to be something older than the 70's. Would a two-box detector get through the topsoil???
