Had to stay up late for some overseas work and calls that needed to be made, and I ALMOST had myself talked out of hitting the beach but I figured what the hell, I'm still gonna be awake for a while, might as well get some exercise! It didn't start out so good and I wasn't finding a whole lot. On the return leg is when I hit that nice low sound. Initially it was great but after the first scoop it sounded worse but as I wasn't finding much, I was digging everything (and yeah, everything includes numerous 5 foot metal "dune fence" poles which are all over the Bay beaches here). Next scoop got it and that's when I realized it was near one of those &*^%$@! poles. First 14K for the year (all previous 6 were 10K) and it's pretty heavy for a smaller ring at 5.5 grams. There was a name but its so worn down it's unreadable, the "1693" is the date of the college (William and Mary) and has an "11" on one side.
