Looks pretty close to Albert's #AY 14, c. 1802-08.

scratcher, you are finding some great stuff! as you know, your's is a first regiment button, eight spoked wheel with 3 cannon balls on the left side (as we're lookinhg at it) , long cannon with flag and drum. The one that seems to match in Albert is AY16 A. which is backmarked Armitage/Phila.

PBK, I posted while you were posting. You probably see something I don't. I believe the know AY 14's are blank backed?

Checking it again, I'd say you're right: AY 16. :icon_thumright:

Here's a tweaked pic of scratcher's button, in which some of the finer details of AY 16 may be more apparent.

Hey PBK and johnnyi, thanks a bunch. I am going to have to get Alberts. These buttons are copper, right? What would you suggest for cleaning and preservation if anything? I know they aren't worth all that much but I don't want to ruin it. It has a couple of funky spots on it but they aren't green at all. Thanks
