Early Beach Trip Planned

I'm excited to plan an early beach trip next week to Myrtle. Since i mainly swing in dirt, the beach is a nice change of pace.

The tide charts still confuse me some, but i plan on just hitting the slope and enjoy my time.

I don't have the best scoop so is it worth taking a small garden trowel?

Sand in Myrtle beach can be deep - If you have time, buy the book Gold Beneath the Waves from Amazon. It's a great beach hunting book, and was written by a very seasoned beach hunter in the Myrtle Beach area.

Thanks for the tip SusanMN. I was debating on taking the pro pointer for fear it would end up in the ocean with my luck.

Leave your pp behind if you plan to detect in the surf. You also need a sand scoop if you plan on digging in the wet sand near the surf. Your hole will fill in on itself quickly as you dig . I recommend an aluminum scoop. I got a stainless and its ridiculous heavy (even thought its one of the lightest made). If you hunt the dry sand, all you need is a hand trowel and pp as Susan recommended.
