Hit a Civil War campsite that we thought we flogged and popped 2 minnies, a large cent and this little 1836 Capped Bust beauty! This is the second for me from this site and maybe the find of the season although the seated quarter that a Civil War soldier carved his initials into found a few weeks ago may still take the cake. I'll get some more pics of the rest of the finds here soon.

Very nice. They don't come along very often for most of us. In 35 years I have only found two Capped Bust - an 1830 five cents and an 1827 ten cents.

Congrats on a great looking coin.

What a beautiful coin! Congrats!

Awesome!!! Congrats!!!

What a beauty! That coin is high on my bucket list. Congrats!

A LC and the Capped bust would make my year They are still on my long bucket list though the initials of a civil war soldier on that coin from a week or so ago would be my favorite.... Great post.....Tommy

That's an awesome coin for sure! Those Capped bust dimes are hard to find, as Steve in PA said. Congrats on yours! :icon_thumleft:

Awesome find Tommy, Congrats! In almost 30 years of detecting, I've found one Capped dime- same date as yours.

Congrats on a very rare find - a beautiful coin !

I found my first Capped Bust coin 7 or 8 years ago.
I dug it in the second week of January and when I got home I told my Wife I just found the best coin I'm ever going to find this year.
I was right !

Niiiiiiiiiiiiiice!!!!!!

Great find! Unfortunately here in California I don't run across many civil war camp sites. I would consider early 1900's a fantastic find. But I still keep chugging away.

Beautiful coin! :occasion14:
