Been hunting for years, and just never got my coil over a cannonball, until today! And three strange things: (1) Only 6 pounder anybody knows of, found within 5 miles of this spot (2) Found in a campsite - dropped, I guess, (3) Six inches away, a buttplate which appears to be a .69 cal smoothbore musket, though not able to say for sure, pretty eaten up.

Also found a New York Coat button, close to the surface so pretty eaten up.

Rounded the day out with a pewter shirt button a few dropped 3-ringers, and a spoon handle. I haven't had a really GOOD day since last spring, but my first cannonball was a huge thrill.

Very nice. A larger one than the little one I found is on my list. Were those solid or fused with powder? Congrats.
