These points and marbles are field finds from many years of walking plowed fields. I am not sure if the Indians traded for these marbles or if they made them? I still pick them up when I come across one in the field. Please post any North Carolina artifacts you have or Displays.

Wow that is some great looking marbles and game stones. I like the points too.

Cool clay marbles.. they are colonial and were made that way until the early nineteen hundreds.
Very common on civil war era sites.
Here are some north Carolina photos from a good friend of mine.

@ GB I have to ask......so did they make the bigger ones in colonial times or are they game balls? I know the small ones are.

Some real nice points in your collection. Like the marbles too

They made many different sizes.. remember these were hand made..and even painted and salt glazed in some cases... the game of marbles requires a larger one that's used to knock the others.

The shooting marble! I see some in his pile I know are salt glazed. On the other hand, I see some that I do believe are native. It's hard to call with only a picture to go on.

Compare the material and temper to the Native pottery in the area.

I have not found any marbles but here are some NC points that I have found over the past couple of years in the NC Piedmont.
