I picked up this watch eBay and like an idiot I did not read the details and it showed up without a back. It was in horrible condition and I thought a lost cause. When I took it out of the case I found the dial to be perfect and worthy of a restoration. Well I tore it down and then began looking at my watch parts pile and amazingly found a back that fit. I removed all the dirt that was on the exterior it almost looked like it had been buried. I polished the case, disassemble the movement and serviced it and put the piece back together and was totally overwhelmed at the end result. I have to say it’s my proudest restoration yet. It’s the traditional two piece notched back and screw ring style. ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1563414358.183426.webp

I believe I have an older SS spanner ring back Bulova auto that might work. What year is the one you have made?

I need a 1971 date code. Just the back as I have the ring already.

You took a really trashed looking Bulova and brought it back to life. Awesome looking now and should be a great wearable piece. I have a '59 that I bought that needed a little polish and now looking for a correct band. Hope you can find the correct back for it.

I'll look when I get home. If it's one I think I've got, it doesn't run.

Thank you. I am looking for a 1940’s Bulova Blackhawk case too.

That's a great job you did not easy to do I'm sure

Home now and what I've got won't work for ya. It's a 20 year older L1 golldfilled Bulova auto.

Thanks for checking. If you want me to see if I can service it send me the watch.

Thanks JD, It's not one I'm overly eager to get fixed up. I might just sell it as is. The balance seems good, but it just doesn't go. It also has some greenish staining on the dial around the 2,3 & 4. that looks like was caused by moisture. I think it would be a nice looking watched fixed up and running and it's a bit larger in diameter compared to other watches typical of the time it was made.
